January 24: On the occasion of the Chinese New Year, the Kathmandu University Confucius Institute at Kathmandu University (CIKU) with support of Modern English Secondary School/College and Chinese Education Society Nepal successfully organized a cultural exhibition and inauguration of a Confucius Classroom at Modern English Secondary School/College.
Bagmati Province Assembly Member Surendra Raj Gosai emphasized the role of initiatives like China’s Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) in contributing to Nepal's development. He appreciated the poverty alleviation program of Government of China and developing countries like Nepal need to learn more from such an effective program. He encouraged integrating Chinese language education with other academic pursuits and extended his best wishes for the Chinese New Year.
Speaking at the event, Dr. Li Shuwang Cheng, Director of the CIKU, highlighted how cultural and artistic exchanges have further strengthened Nepal-China relations.
China-side director of Confucius Institute at Tribhuvan University (CITU) Prof. Zhang Xingnian, acting Nepal-side director of CITU Dr. Bal Ram Duwal, CITU teachers Wang Lisha and Ni Yifang, LRI Confucius Center director and representative of Araniko Society and various school/colleges has actively participated at the program.
